Instructions

  1. Adjust the seat and back pad so your knees align with the machine's pivot point.
  2. Position the lower-leg pad just above your ankles and sit with your back firmly supported.
  3. Grip the side handles if available and keep your hips and torso stable.

    Tips

    • Align your knee joints carefully with the machine pivot before beginning.
    • Keep the roller pad above your ankles rather than on your feet.
    • Maintain contact with the back pad and keep your hips seated throughout each repetition.
    • Use a load that lets you control the slower lowering phase.

    Technique check

    Common mistakes

    • Using an incorrect seat, pivot, or lower-leg pad adjustment.
    • Using excessive weight and kicking the lever upward.
    • Aggressively locking the knees at the top.
    • Lifting the hips away from the seat.
    • Moving too quickly through the repetition.
    • Dropping the weight during the lowering phase.
    • Using an unnecessarily shortened range of motion.
